Learn, Create, Share
Acronym RAT - Recognise, Amplify, Turbo Charge
Recognise:
• recognise effective practice. This grounds us. What does it look like in a digital environment? We need to be familiar and recognising their relevance in a digital world.
• What are we seeing in our classrooms that are effective practice.
• What does it look like in my school? Take the curriculum and apply in different ways.
• What PLD have we had over the last few years. PB4L
• Effective teacher implementing effective practice
• Great teaching plus digital affordances means great learning.
• Railway tracks. 2 tracks simultaneously.
Amplify:
• my practice. 2 side to it. Amplifying practice means we can give and share with colleagues and get. We use the internet and resources to get resources etc and we give by sharing our own practice, online groups
Turbo Charge:
• Because we have technology is about how are we engaging our learners by enhancing the digital. Giving opportunities to connect. Think about back in the day having a newspaper and bring it to school and talk to it. Learning was dependent on the teacher. Now the kids can go online and watch the debris falling into the ocean. It's current and happening right now.
• Making it rewindable. Can go back and look over them. Harness technology and every child in every day our children should be learning effectively.
Google Meet:
Gosh I wish I knew all this a year ago! So happy to be learning so much about this programme. The biggest positive about this today was knowing how to show my screen. I wonder if we could have had a practice in our pairs before coming into the larger group. All my common sense and confidence went out the window. It's an alternative way to connect as we 'meet' in different ways with other groups. Meetings from home instead of being together in a room. I still enjoy being with people but realise this is a great tool especially if we were to go into another lock down situation.
We also learnt today how to embed a video. Please see mine below.

Kia ora Megan,
ReplyDeleteI love the video you created with Theresa. It's incredible to think about how much this technology has become so much more a part of our everyday world in the last year or so. Being able to share a screen in a Meet is so useful! Meet is a great way to be able to connect with experts and people outside of our normal range of connections within the classroom. Have you used Google Meet with your students?

Fabulous blog Megan,
ReplyDeleteI love that we are able to make our learning rewindable and we can jump on each others blogs to remind ourselves about what we are learning and how far we have come in a short time. The biggest issue with rewindable learning for me is to be less focused on the messy hair and crazy faces I pull and more on the content!!!!! Great Google meet with you. See you on Tuesday
Kia ora Megan,
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see you making connections between your own practise and what is being shared during the DFI. This isn't about just using a device, it is so much more than that. I can't wait to see where you go with this.
Ngā mihi,
Sharon
